About

A body is never outside geography.

I photograph bodies, sex, and the lands that shape them. I begin with myself. The archive records freedoms amid the forces that contest them.

Borders govern intimacy.

Borders and laws determine which intimacies may be public, which must remain hidden, and which are punished.

Queer life is still criminalized.

Gay and lesbian intimacy is still criminalized across borders. Trans identity and expression are criminalized directly in some places and policed through broader laws in others.

אבי פרדס / Avi Pardes

An alter ego and a project. פרדס (Pardes) is Hebrew for an orchard or garden: physical pleasure cultivated by human hands. The archive begins with my own body as subject, evidence, and invitation.
